    Dear X

This is just a quick email to let you know that you’ve used 42 of your 52 free Electric Highway charges, so you have 10 left.

I think it would be really useful to know how many you have used within the app as opposed to an oh no ten left !

Is it per Calendar year? If so, better get in the car and use up those 10 remaining charges before midnight tomorrow.

Not really embodying the EV glass half-full mentality.

It should say. "you have now used 42 charges. You still have a whole (I thought of using whopping) 10 charges left"

And I suppose leading on from this would be a deal to buy credits in advance....:censored:

In the app, Settings>My Transactions seems to be correct for me.

What happens if you use all your 52 in 6 months then leave?

There are more questions than answers.

Nothing better than "hope you had a terrific Xmas and may we wish you a Happy New Year", the very least they could do when choking money from you for their overpriced electricity tariffs, and even more overpriced rapid charging.

    Best Wishes

    Life does get more complicated.
At first we had just range anxiety.
Now we also have to think- Have I just got enough to get home or should use a free charge for a top-up.
Or should I make the journey which is just beyond range.
It would be much easier and fairer if the free charges were allocated in units of electricity.

It would be great if they did that but I fear unless the government forces it with legislation it won't happen.

Could not agree more with you Geoff. But using the Rapid charger for the whole 30 minutes to get every ounce that you are paying for reduces congestion at the charger according to their website.

But don't worry you can join them on a pay as you go tariff for electricity and gas.......but just not their rapid chargers.

For most people after 15-20mins they would want to move on.

Not having CCS at every MSA is reducing congestion, if they installed them people would use them and cause congestion:confused:

The annoying thing is some of my free ones have been on business trips where receipts from £6 at south mimms would have been useful.

Im going to attempt to get a petrol loaner from Nissan for my next trip i feel, sadly.

Did leeds to south mimms in my new 24 kw charging at trowell and i think watford gap (app doesnt tell me) but on the way back had to charge 4 times due to spacings not being good.

Maybe set up a second account for the business trips to keep them separate from your domestic charges?

    Indeed!

It's essential to keep business expenditure separate for many reasons. So claiming £6 for a genuine £6 payment to ecotricity is absolutely good and proper. Billing one's employer £6 for a free charge is fraudulent. It's one of the challenges with mobile calls too though - or broadband - where there's a limited quota - in this case though I'd suggest keeping a separate account

Can't you just get paid the mileage allowance on an electric car for out of pocket expenses?

I'm sure that advice is good but I can't agree that billing your employer for a free charge is fraudulent. If you use them all and have to start paying then your employer has benefited from a 'free' charge that has eventually cost you £6.

It'll be in their HR policy. Normally they state that any expense has to be actually incurred. You can't get reimbursed for a benefit in kind,
    as it were.

In any case, even HMRC would demand a VAT receipt, so where would you get this from? The EH receipts state (correctly) £0.00 for the free charge.
